HRSA

With some great entries, we are looking forward to an action-packed weekend at Redstar Raceway! The possibility of light rain in the first half of the day, will make an already demanding track, almost impossible to navigate.

Class C will see the likes of Stuart Konig in his Northern Bolt & Tool VW Scirocco in the lead followed by Andre Ten Napel in his TNMC Medical Devices VW Scirocco. Ten Napel suffered some mechanical failures at Zwartkop’s, costing him the lead in the Championship, but with only 1 point separating the two contenders, we can be sure of some great door to door action! Joining the Class C battle will be Jannie van Rooyen in his 1976 VW Scirocco and Stefan Puschavez in his 1974 Porsche 911 RSR.

Class D promises to be filled with excitement as the two front runners, Jonathan Konig in his Northern Bolt & Tool VW Scirocco and Gavin Lundin in his The Lube Guys Datsun 1200 GX will battle it out for the top spot in the Championship. With only 10 points between Konig and Lundin, this will be a race not to be missed! Added to the mix is the likes of Nigel Townshend in his MK1 Ford Escort previously promoted from Class E.

Grant Cramer in his Jensen’s Towing Datsun 1200 GX is looking to walk away with some Championship points to close the gap to Class leader, Sean Hepburn. With extremely close racing, Class E never fails to entertain. Getting in on the action is Michael Lundin in his The Lube Guys Datsun 1200 GX, Ian Odendaal in his AIM Precision Engineering MK1 Ford Escort and Cameron Foster in his Jensen’s Towing Datsun 1200 GX. Class E will certainly promise some spectacular and nail-biting racing.

Craig Harris in his Audiobility Datsun 1200 GX and George Eysselein with his VW Scirocco will surely make for some close racing in Class F. With Harris not only looking to walk away with a podium finish but also to close the gap on Shane Mclachlan.

In Class G Riaan de Ru in his 1953 Ford Prefect will take on Redstar Raceway’s 13 corners to extend his Championship lead over Championship contender, Mike Bishop in his Gasoline Denim Co. Renault Gordini.

With two of the three Youngtimers Honda Ballades in the mix, Mike O’Sullivan (leading the Championship with 2 points) in his 1997 Honda Ballade and Rob Clark in his 1996 Honda Ballade hungry for a podium, this battle is sure to have the spectators on the edge of their seats.

Pursuit Series

With a smaller field than HRSA, Pursuit never fails to entertain!  Pursuit runs in reverse order as conventional racing, the contender with the slowest lap time, will start in pole position followed by the rest of the field. The slowest car will start the clock, the second car will follow suit on a specific calculated and so it follows until the fastest car crosses the start line to start his race. Breaking out (Go faster) your quickest lap time, will result in no point scored for that race. Pursuit Series is all about consistency.

Gary Stacey in his Ford Sierra XR8 is back on track after a disappointing Zwartkop’s race. Stacey suffered mechanical failure in the previous round. Still on top of the Championship leader board, Stacey will get the crowd on the pit wall with his roaring Ford V8.

Keeping racing in the family, Stan Stacey with his 1982 Alfa Romeo GTV, is back after missing out on two rounds, he will be racing consistently to take a bit out of Class leader, Gary Stacey’s lead. Michiel Oberholzer in his 1982 Mercedes Benz 190E (second in his Class HF) will be chasing for points to close the gap on Championship leader, Whitehead. Jannie van Rooyen in his 1976 VW Scirocco (who only competed in the last two rounds of Pursuit) collected a staggering 71 points in Class HM. With van Rooyen’s consistent and precise driving style, we are looking forward to see him entertain the crowd on track!

Loraine Badenhorst in her 1972 Ford Escort (a newcomer in Pursuit series) with this only being her second race for the season, Badenhorst showed great improvement in lap times and consistency at Zwartkop’s and will soon be a fierce force to reckon with.

To throw some excitement into the mix, we have a few invitational drivers with the likes of George Eysselein with his VW Scirocco, Riaan de Ru in his 1953 Ford Prefect and Michael Lundin in his The Lube Guys Datsun 1200 GX. This is indeed a mixture to ensure some interesting racing.

With all the factors taken into consideration the possibility of rain and fierce battles, Redstar Raceway will deliver great excitement for both young and old, and we are here for it!
